I have found out some people actually don’t know about this. And if you’re new to hate and anonymous anger, then I suppose I can see why you wouldn’t know.
But let me tell you about a creature known as the TROLL ANON.
Granted, they can be off of anon, too. But this particular creature usually hides under anonymity. Why? Because they don’t even support what they’re saying. Usually they are simply saying stuff to rile you up, cause havoc, and see just what chaos ensues.
Often, their messages are very generic and can apply to a great many of people. All they have to do is look at your blog and find something you do and attack you over it. Hell, they don’t even have to do that either.
Common troll messages:
- ur RPing sux
- ur writing sux
- ur art sux
- ur ugly
- u fail at life, just go die
- Kill yourself.
See? Very generic. Sure, they may be longer than that but they will often have the same message. They won’t point out anything specific about what you’re doing wrong. They’ll simply say it’s wrong and try to lower your self-esteem and/or get you angry or depressed.
They also are hoping other people will latch on and start defending the person being attacked. And, likely, they are laughing at each and every person who takes them seriously because they really just don’t care. Not saying you shouldn’t help the person being attacked, but it’s usually best to just point out this person is a troll and just trying to get people riled up. If you want to link to this post to explain, you have my full permission.
Another thing you will often see is TXT speak.
You know, with all the lowercase letters and typos and shortened words.
This is so they can be even more anonymous. If they type like that, you can’t point them out by their writing style. It is often the exact opposite of how they actually type. It’s simply meant to confuse you. It’s also meant to see if you’ll take even that seriously. Because, let’s face it, almost everyone will correct them on their grammar (which is another thing they find laughable) and if you crumble with that kind of speech, they know they can hit you harder if they type correctly later.
So here is where I introduce the age-old internet rule:
DON’T FEED THE TROLL
The more fuel you give them, the more entertaining you are, the more likely they are to keep trying to hurt you.
So just ignore them! Delete the message! Don’t give them the satisfaction!
And even if you reply in a cocky manner, they often will keep trying and trying til they get what they want.
DON’T.
FEED.
THE.
TROLL.
Spread this around! Because it could help someone see through those cruel people just trying to get a kick out of what pain they can cause others.
